DrawBINGO Chat Help

DrawBINGO Chat is one of the most useful features.  You can play sounds, chat privately, enter many different rooms, and even create your own room instantly.

01. Startup - Joining a Room
02. Basics - How to Send Messages
03. Chat Commands
04. Listing the Channels
05. Changing the Font Color/Size
06. Floating Chat Window
07. Chat Sounds
08. Common Chat Abbreviations
09. Ignoring Users and Text

Startup - Joining a Room

When the game first starts up, click the room you would like to join from the list, and click OK.  You can also click on the 'Show all rooms' button to display the rooms currently active, or type a room name in the box at the top.  Note that some rooms are 'private' and have passwords on them.  If you try to join one of these rooms and do not know the password, you will be placed back into the main room automatically.

Basics - How to Send Messages

While you are playing the game, the chat window is always in focus.  To send a message, simply type what you want to say, and press the Enter key on the keyboard.  There is no 'send' button, so hitting Enter is the only way to send messages.

Chat Commands

Instead of typing a message, you can type a command to perform the action you want.  All commands start with a forward-slash ( / ).  For example, typing /help and hitting Enter will display the list of commands.  The following commands are available:

/join #<room name>
Eg. /join #main
Joins the channel you wish.  Room names must start with a # character, for example #main.

/msg nickname message
Eg. /msg Presiden Hello!
This sends a private message to the nickname you wish.  The example sends "Hello!" to Presiden.

/who
This will display all the people who are in the room with you.  Very useful feature!

/me message
Eg. /me waves
This will send a message to the channel you are in, but in 'third-person'.  For example, the example will display:

* Nickname waves

Where 'nickname' is your nickname.

/seen nickname
Eg. /seen mybuddy
This will show you the room someone is in, if they are logged in and playing.

Listing the Channels

You can go to Options->Join Channel to show a list of the channels available.  The other tabs at the top of this window also provide a list of who is playing, and other options.

Changing the Font Color/Size

Click on Options then Preferences.  You can change the font options for your chat, other people's chat text, and the Sysop ("System Operator").

Floating Chat Window

This feature is useful if you have screen space available and want a larger chat window.  Just click the little F button on the right hand side of the chat window.  A new window will appear, which you can resize and place wherever you want.

Chat Sounds

Chat sounds are fun to use, and add life to chat.  To play a sound, all you need to do is type [soundname] and hit Enter where soundname is the name of the sound file you want to play.

There are many sites on the internet that offer wave files to download, and players on DrawBINGO usually have a lot of them to offer.  Any wave files you download need to be saved in the c:\Program Files\DrawBINGO\Sounds directory for them to be used!

Note that DrawBINGO doesn't offer support on downloading/installing wave files, as we can't control the sites they can be downloaded from.

Common Chat Abbreviations

Players like to use a lot of abbreviations in chat, and here are a few to know:

sac - sorry all close (to a bingo)
wtg - way to go
wtgw - way to go winner
wtg 10ers - way to go 10'ers (players who get 10 credits for being one away from bingo
gla - good luck all
gl2e1 - good luck to every one

There are many more!

Ignore User and Text

Hopefully you won't have any trouble with chat, but there may come a time when someone is being rude and you wish to ignore them.  You may also want chat with certain words or text to not appear on your screen.

Just go to Options then Ignore User/Text, and type the text or user you wish to ignore.  Then click Add below that text to add it to the list.
